As a Read to Succeed Reading coach, you will forever impact a child's life.
United Way Read to Succeed partners with Wichita Public Schools to pair volunteer reading coaches with students who struggle to read fluently. This year, Read to Succeed is shifting to assist second-grade students in an attempt to help set them up for success by the time they enter third grade. As a coach, you’ll meet with a student weekly for 20 minutes at their school to listen to them read and provide intervention tactics that help them strengthen their literacy skills. Everyone is welcome to volunteer. No financial gift to United Way is needed to participate.
Mark your Calendar: An in-person training will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., at the USD 259 Service Center, 3850 N. Hydraulic. All coaches – new and returning – are strongly encouraged to attend.
Required Background Check: All volunteers are required to complete a background check with Wichita Public Schools each year. After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with a link.
