Who We Are

Sunlight Children’s Services (SCS) exists to provide resources and facilities that support and protect abused and neglected children and their non-offending family members. SCS serves over 800 unique children annually through its Child Advocacy Center and Children’s Home programs.

What We Do

The Sunlight Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is one of 17 independent organizations that facilitates a multi-disciplinary response to child abuse and neglect allegations in Kansas. At its core, the CAC is about child-focused teamwork - bringing together specially trained forensic interviewers, family advocates, child protective services, police, prosecutors, medical and mental health professionals, and other community partners on behalf of the child. The Sunlight CAC is in El Dorado, Kansas, and serves children from the state's 13th Judicial District.

The Sunlight Children's Home (SCH) program provides a place of respite and refuge to children in crisis. In 2021, children (ages birth to 17 years) from 82 counties across Kansas found safety and compassionate care within Sunlight Children's Home's walls.  The Home is open 365 days a year and can accommodate up to 15 children per night. Of those served, over half were sibling groups. Children staying at the SCH receive positive attention from staff and basic comforts afforded to children in traditional home environments, such as their own bed, clean clothes, and shoes, access to toys and books, regular baths, and three nutritious meals (plus snacks) daily.
