Union Rescue Mission

The Union Rescue Mission is an evangelical Christian ministry committed to sharing the gospel and meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the homeless and poor in our community every day since 1950. We provide the largest emergency shelter and life-change center for men in the state of Kansas. The Mission’s 6-acre campus in Wichita provides overnight housing and meals for homeless men, in addition to residential programs and job training opportunities. 

• Solid Ground is a Christ-centered, 12-month residential program offering classes and case management with Life Recovery Coaches to equip men spiritually and practically to live independently again. Through structured modules, participants develop life skills and a biblical foundation for lasting change.
• Courage to Change (C2C) is a short-term program focused on goal setting, stability, and personal growth. Participants receive case management with a Life Recovery Coach, employment support, and budgeting guidance to move toward stable income, housing, and a healthy lifestyle.
• Eagles Wings Transitional Housing offers up to 18 months of Christ-centered transitional housing for Solid Ground graduates. This program provides continued support and accountability as participants work toward full independence in a structured, community-based environment.
• The Exodus Program is a post-incarceration program that provides housing, counseling, and job preparation for men on parole, referred by the KDOC Housing Specialist. Each participant works with a Life Recovery Coach to develop life skills, build financial stability, and prepare for employment. The curriculum focuses on communication, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and career readiness.
• Emergency Overnight Shelter provides up to 30 consecutive nights of shelter for homeless men, including meals, clothing, hygiene items, and Christ-centered support. Guests may return after 30 days if resources are still needed or if they transfer into a residential program.
• Through our Community Outreach Programs, we distribute free supplemental groceries to families in need.
